Scytorya Rhodes is a Bay area native who is featured in the new Van Peebles Western “Outlaw Posse” . Her character in the film helps illustrate how the Grandfather Clause and other unjust laws were used to prevent African Americans from voting or owning land. Scytorya says “My Grandfather was the first Black cowboy I ever knew. He wore his cowboy gear almost every day. On Monday & Tuesday after school I would join him to feed his horses. He would share stories with me about his life growing up in Texas, that shaped my love for the Wild West ”. Scytorya took acting classes as a child in San Francisco, CA and was chosen to recite shakespeare at a charity Banquet in Oakland, CA and then took theater while she attended Contra Costa College. Scytorya eventually moved to Hollywood where she landed roles in acclaimed projects such as the hit TV series “Snow Fall” where she plays Chelle, “Wu-Tang Clan: The American Saga” where she plays Talani and the gripping indie short “Love Lessons”. With her Bay Area roots, her grandfather’s cowboy spirit, and her role in “Outlaw Posse” Scytorya Rhodes is poised to become a shining star in the entertainment industry, captivating audiences with her talent, charm, and undeniable presence. She says “Don’t forget where you’re from and don’t limit where you can go.”
